To celebrate the life of Timothy Hackworth and especially his connection to Methodism, a Service is being held in Shildon Methodist Church Community Hall on Sunday 6th July at 10.45 am. This coincides with 175 years since his death on 7th July 1850 and also the celebration this year of 200 years since the opening of the first passenger railway known as the Stockton to Darlington Line.
All are welcome to attend this service and afterwards there will be refreshments.
There will be a large display of historical artefacts relating to the history of Timothy Hackworth the man and his legacy for Methodism in the town.
If you are unable to attend this service then there will be an opportunity to view the display at the following times during July.
Tuesday afternoons between 1.00 – 3.00 pm
Thursday mornings between 9.45 – 1.00 am
Many people in the town will have fond memories of activities within our Church, Sunday School, Parent and Toddler group , The 'Wes' Youth Club, Youth Connection, Homemakers, Womens' Fellowship, Choir etc. Please call in and re-live your memories perhaps.
We have a proud heritage and would love to see as many people as possible, we still have lots to offer.
