Church building

There has been a lot if information from Connexion in relation to property.
The best place to find up to date information is here.

It covers:

  • Reopening Churches for Worship and Prayer: following their initial announcements and detailed guidance, the Government published a further document for this policy change on 4th July. There is now updated Connexional guidance from 6th July which updates matters concerning communion, baptism and test & trace initiatives.
  • The Risk Assessment and Reopening Buildings Checklist are now separate documents.
  • Legionella: this has an important update to clarify the robust framework for undertaking testing if a building is to be reopened, particularly to mitigate against issues around property inspections whilst the building has been closed.
  • Cleaning: we have received numerous requests for additional information about cleaning, so this is now indicated as a separate document.
  • Property Projects & Repairs: please note that this guidance covers all construction and property works related guidance, including various types of inspections (e.g. Quinquennial Inspections), it also covers any works or inspections related to manses.
  • Other Property Users: this now covers the recent changes around shops, work setting and cafes; we will be publishing information very soon on other community users of church buildings once Government guidance is received this week.
  • Finance for churches during this period, particularly those who need urgent repairs etc. We have added a section which scopes out some of the available grant sources available, both COVID-19 specific and not.
