Dene Valley Methodist Church is in Coundon Grange. A new congregation in 2022 gathering together in the old Coundon Grange chapel, it joins the congregations of:
Auckland Park (which combined with Coundon ten years ago or so)
Valley (a combination of Close House, Coundon Grange and Houghton le Side over the years)
South Church (which was an amalgamation of Main Street and Priory Grove chapels in the 1970s).

This combined congregation has already attracted a few brand-new members and over its first couple of months seems to be establishing itself as a worshipping community of between 20 and 30 with a fresh outlook and energy.

You'll find a warm welcome at services and activities which include a Men's group fortnightly on a Tuesday evening looking at the Methodist Way of Life and a Women's Gathering at 1.30 every second Thursday which is slowly putting together a programme of activities.

There is a small but lively children's club Monday evenings, and the hall is also used by the community for different meetings and activities.

As we find our way into new routines and expressions of faith, mission and outreach to support and share the gospel with the wider surrounding communities, pray for us to find God's guidance as a new expression of church combining the traditions of our various parts but also seeking new ways to be God's people in this new place.
