De Gloria Trust Banner Exhibition
Etherley Methodist Church, DL14 0HZ, are displaying a spectacular and unique Exhibition at our Church, on Saturday the 12th and 19th of April 2025. There will be 20 DE GLORIA Banners on display, each banner being 6 foot x 2 foot in size. The themes of the banners are;

The Journey – 10 banners representing the 4 stations of the Cross, and

The Servant King – 10 banners representing a hymn by Graham Kendrick

These have been created by the renowned Textile Artist Jaqui Parkinson, whose outstanding work is normally exhibited in Cathedrals and Minsters throughout the UK. Her first husband was Rob Frost before he sadly passed away, and he was well known for his work in the North East, and the rest of the UK.

The banners of this exhibition have never been displayed in County Durham before.

Etherley Methodist Church will welcome visitors each Saturday from 10.00am to 3.00pm, entrance and car parking are free. For those who have not visited our Church recently, the internals of the Church are bright and modern, we have no fixed pews, so the modified viewing area will be excellent, and we are fortunate to have exclusive use of a large tarmacked car park very close to the Church, which will be clearly signposted. The 5star rated café will be open all day for morning coffees, light lunches and afternoon tea`s. Our facilities are suitable for disabled visitors.

kings coronation at etherley 2023

As a celebration for the Coronation, the knitters at Etherley were very busy. The Church was decorated with a golden carriage and 2 horses, the door had the Cipher of the new King, and other associated embellishments were put around the Church entrance.

The Chapel and Schoolroom are ideal venues to hire for Conferences, Meetings etc, with adaptable space, modern kitchen facilities and audio and visual equipment.

Groups currently using these facilities are Tai Chi (every Thursday morning) which is strongly recommended by medical experts to assist health & well-being, a Cinema Club (usually 2nd Wednesday evening in each month) and the Wear Valley Photography Club (usually 2nd & 4th Monday evenings in each month). New members are always welcome at these events.
